Katrina Hutchinson is an artist of multiple disciplines. Her work seeks to evoke moods that transcend an ordinary image into the extraordinary. Light, texture, form in a tight focal range, capture the essence of the object.
Katrina uses traditional photographic techniques, combined with digital manipulation to sculpture the object and imbue the subtle grain of classic photography.
Katrina’s life imparts her work with reference to the dramatic scapes of her home country New Zealand, the vibrancy of the South Sea islands and the urbane stone cladding of Europe. The diversity of themes reflects her desire to expose the pure beauty and truth of an image.
Katrina’s current work ‘Garden of Light’ explores flora - plants, flowers, light and sculptured depth of images. The images move from the spiritual Koru images of fern ( a maori reference to rebirth), to depth of images in floral fields and the structural architecture of palms & flowers.
Katrina was born in Auckland New Zealand in 1972. She studied photography, contemporary jewellery and graphic design. She has been resident in the United Kingdom since 2002, living in London
